Characteristics and applications of common mechanical bearings

Source: FAG bearings  Tags: News

As we all know, bearings play a pivotal role in the field of mechanical equipment. The main function is to support the mechanical rotating body to reduce the friction coefficient of the mechanical load during the transmission process of the equipment. The following is a description of the characteristics and applications of common bearings from Eric Bearing Limited .

Deep groove ball bearings

Structurally, each ring of a deep groove ball bearing has a continuous groove raceway with a cross-section of approximately one third of the equatorial circumference of the ball. Mainly bear radial load, but also bear certain axial load. When the radial clearance increases, it has the properties of an angular contact ball bearing and can bear axial loads alternating in two directions. Compared with other types of bearings of the same size, this type of bearing has a small friction coefficient, high limit speed and high precision, and is the preferred bearing type for users when selecting models.  SKF 6203-2RSH bearings online , if you are interested , pls do free to contact us .

Main applications: automobiles, tractors, machine tools, motors, water pumps, agricultural machinery, textile machinery, etc.

Angular contact ball bearings

There is a contact angle between the ferrule and the ball. The standard contact angles are 15 degrees, 25 degrees and 40 degrees. The larger the contact angle, the greater the axial load capacity. The smaller the contact angle, the more conducive to high-speed rotation. The bearing can bear radial load and one-way axial load, and the double row angular contact ball bearing can bear radial load and two-way axial load.

Main applications: Single row angular contact bearings: machine tool spindles, high frequency motors, gas turbines, centrifugal separators, front wheels of small cars, differential pinion shafts, etc.

Double row angular contact bearings: oil pumps, roots blowers, air compressors, various transmissions, fuel injection pumps, printing machinery, etc.

Self-aligning bearing

Cylindrical bore self-aligning bearings have two rows of steel balls and a cambered raceway in the outer ring, which can be actively self-aligned, and are suitable for simple shaft deflection and misalignment caused by shaft misalignment. The frictional temperature rise in rolling bearings is relatively small. The tapered hole self-aligning bearing has the characteristics of the cylindrical hole self-aligning ball bearing. It usually cannot bear pure axial load. It is lower than the same standard deep groove ball bearing at the limit speed, but its bearing capacity is higher than that of the deep groove ball bearing.

Main applications: low-noise motors, automobiles, motorcycles, woodworking machinery, drive shafts of textile machinery, mining machinery, electromechanical equipment, plastic machinery, working equipment, medical equipment, fitness and sports equipment and general machinery.

Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Usually guided by the two ribs of one bearing ring, the cage roller and the guide ring form a combination, which can be separated from the other bearing ring and belongs to a separable bearing. Installation and disassembly are more convenient, especially when the inner and outer rings are required to be interference fit with the shaft and the housing. Generally only used to bear radial load, only single row bearings with ribs on both inner and outer rings can bear small constant axial load or large intermittent axial load .

Main applications: large motors, machine tool spindles, axle boxes, diesel engine crankshafts, automobiles, gearboxes that keep in mind, etc.
